Sir: We read with great interest the review on magnesium metabolism in critical illness by Noronha and Matuschak, which appeared in the June issue of Intensive Care Medicine [1]. We compliment the authors on their outstanding work, and hope that their review will contribute to an increased awareness of the importance of magnesium in critically ill patients. We would, however, like to make a number of additions to their otherwise thorough and comprehensive paper. …
