The anterior surface of the pancreatic body and tail is a vast area which is not dissected as a standard practice in extended surgery for gastric cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate metastatic involvement of lymph nodes (LNs) on the anterior surface of the pancreatic body and tail which were dissected en block with the posterior leaf of the bursa omentalis during bursectomy in extended surgery for gastric cancer (see Fig. 1a). …
