The tip detection method is useful to perform intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-based three-dimensional (3D) wiring in chronic total occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) (1) and to recognize the antrectomy direction during directional coronary atherectomy (NIPRO, Osaka, Japan) (2). This method is a method to observe the tip and its direction by moving the transducer back and forth around the tip to visually construct the 3D image of the guidewire inside the vessel (1). It would also be useful to navigate guidewires even through routes where it is difficult to pass, such as side branches during non-CTO procedures. …
