In the neurosciences intensive care unit, we are all amateur filmmakers. We often use clips to demonstrate what we see but do not understand, and we want others to review and comment. We publish clips as illustrative images. The ready availability of smartphones with high-definition video capacity has been a revolutionary change in the documentation and diagnosis of hard-to-comprehend clinical observations. We recognize that our presentation influences the way others view it; we should remember Jean-Luc Godard’s quote that “every edit is a lie.” …
