Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a relatively rare neoplasm in most parts of the world. In two large-series studies of adult bacterial meningitis in Western populations, NPC was not mentioned as an underlying condition [1, 2]. Although the incidence of NPC is relatively high in Taiwan [3], there is limited data on the incidence of NPC in patients with bacterial meningitis in this country [4, 5]. Moreover, the clinical characteristics of bacterial meningitis in adult NPC patients have rarely been reported in the literature [6, 7, 8]. Thus, we conducted the present study to retrospectively determine the incidence of NPC among adult patients with bacterial meningitis at our hospital in Taiwan and to document the characteristics of these cases. …

Keynote webinar | Spotlight on medication adherence

Live: Thursday 27th June 2024, 18:00-19:30 (CEST)

WHO estimates that half of all patients worldwide are non-adherent to their prescribed medication. The consequences of poor adherence can be catastrophic, on both the individual and population level.

Join our expert panel to discover why you need to understand the drivers of non-adherence in your patients, and how you can optimize medication adherence in your clinics to drastically improve patient outcomes.
