More than 2 decades ago, early coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) studies first compared its sensitivity and specificity with invasive coronary angiography [1], and subsequent studies established its excellent sensitivity and negative predictive value for the detection of obstructive CAD [24]. Currently, CCTA has become a cornerstone for the non-invasive diagnostic work-up of patients in the lower range of intermediate pre-test probability of coronary artery disease (CAD) and its appropriate use is endorsed by several current national and international guidelines [5, 6]. …
