A case of a newly developed complicated cystic lesion in the liver

A 70-year-old woman was referred to a local hospital with a cystic lesion of the liver measuring 8 cm on ultrasound (Fig. 1a). Three years prior, ultrasound did not indicate the presence of liver lesions. The lesion had internal septations, but there were no findings of a mural nodule or thickened cyst walls. Ten months later, the ultrasonography finding was altered from a cystic lesion to a solid tumor with an anechoic lesion (Fig. 1b).×
