I read the recent psychometric study with great interest by Doumen et al. entitled “Validation and predictive capacity of a Dutch version of the FLARE-RA questionnaire within the context of a TNFi-tapering trial” [1]. The authors focused on the validity and reliability of the “Flare Assessment in Rheumatoid Arthritis (FLARE-RA),” one of the current tools for assessing patient symptoms during flare periods of rheumatoid arthritis. The authors concluded that the Dutch FLARE-RA is psychometrically appropriate. Although the study practically contributes to the rheumatology literature, it may be useful to address some methodological issues. …
