Invited commentary: the incidentally discovered solid pancreatic mass: imaging and clinical observations

The rapid growth of usage of medical imaging technology and the improvement in image resolution over the past two decades have resulted in the new diagnosis known as an “incidentaloma”. An incidentaloma is defined as an incidentally discovered mass or lesion, detected by CT, MRI, or other imaging modality performed for an unrelated reason. It has become such an important issue in clinical practice that the American College of Radiology formed the Incidental Findings Committee to address the issue of “incidentaloma” on abdominal CT and to provide guidelines on how to report and manage the condition [1]. …
