Fetal cardiology represents one of the most exciting and rapidly evolving areas in the field of pediatric cardiology. During the next 10–20 years, we expect to see incremental advances in the prenatal detection, diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of fetal cardiovascular pathology, both structural and functional. Moreover, the increasing ability to intervene medically, percutaneously, and perhaps surgically on the fetus with progressive cardiovascular pathology promises to magnify the advantage that prenatal detection and diagnosis of congenital heart disease (CHD) already appear to provide. …
