The problem of incisional hernia is familiar to general surgeons. Tension-free repair using synthetic or biosynthetic material to bridge the fascial defect is the commonest approach and is superior in general to sutured repair.1 The most durable repairs require that the material be positioned deep to the fascia and overlap it for some distance beyond the margins of the fascial defect.2 The range of materials that have been used is considerable and none is ideal. …
