Intranasal sumatriptan in adolescents, as well as adults, provides a valuable treatment delivery option for migraine sufferers. Providers and patients now have excellent, site-specific 5-HT1B / 1D receptor agonists in the armamentarium for acute migraine intervention. Intranasal sumatriptan provides a valuable treatment option, not only for reprieve of headache, but also for relief of other significant migraine-associated symptoms including nausea, photophobia and phonophobia. Triptans, as a class, provide enhanced therapeutic options while minimising the potential of adverse events and rebound phenomena associated with nonspecific abortive alternatives. …
