A 67-year-old female was supported by veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) after mitral and tricuspid valve annuloplasty, complicated by acute right ventricular failure with cardiogenic shock. A 23 Fr femoral access cannula (Bio-Medicus, Medtronic) and a 17 Fr femoral return cannula (HLS, Maquet) were surgically introduced. Right ventricular function recovered during ECMO-support, and decannulation was performed on postoperative day five. …
