Childhood craniopharyngiomas are relatively uncommon. Only a few cases are treated annually even at major medical centers around the world. Surgical management of craniopharyngiomas remains one of the most controversial topics among pediatric neurosurgeons. The therapeutic goals for childhood craniopharyngioma are the cure of disease and functional preservation and restoration, but how to achieve these goals is debated.
