By computing the maximal aerobic power (MAP, W) and the anaerobic capacity (AnS, kJ) from the best performance times of elite Master track cyclists over distances ranging between 200 and 3000 m and by comparing 5-year age groups between 30 and 80 years, our respected colleagues (Capelli et al.) calculated the decays in MAP and in AnS (~16 and 11 %/decade, respectively) as a function of age and reported that these decreases started at around 45 (43–49) years of age. …
