Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is an obstructive lung disease characterised by chronic bronchitis and emphysema, typically secondary to long-term cigarette smoking [1]. Patients classically present with significant hypoxaemia alongside hypercapnia, chronic cough with excessive mucus production and persistent fatigue [2]. While the respiratory symptoms dominate COPD presentation, the disease has well-documented sympathoexcitation at comparable levels to congestive heart failure and obstructive sleep apnea [3]. …
