Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is an obstructive lung disease characterised by chronic bronchitis and emphysema, typically secondary to long-term cigarette smoking [
1]. Patients classically present with significant hypoxaemia alongside hypercapnia, chronic cough with excessive mucus production and persistent fatigue [
