The specialty of child and adolescent psychiatry has arisen at the interface between psychology, paediatrics and adult psychiatry. It is influenced by medical, social and legal conditions in the society. In addition, practice is governed by the political demands for an effective and quick acting health service. Our profession has grown and improved in spite of limited funding and changing goverments.
