A 79-year-old woman with hypertension, hyperlipidemia, prior breast cancer, alcohol dependence, and a 50 pack year smoking history presented to the emergency department at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) medical center with two days of dyspnea, cough, and chest pain. Her cough developed first, and she attributed it to an upper respiratory infection. She subsequently developed exertional dyspnea and sharp central chest pain and presented to the emergency department. …
