Do dental bleaching agents induce genetic damage on oral mucosa cells?

I read the recent paper of Monteiro and colleagues [1] published in Clinical Oral Investigations entitled “Evaluation of the genotoxic potential of different delivery methods of at-home bleaching gels: a single-blind, randomized clinical trial” with much interest. In this article, the authors failed to detect high frequencies of micronucleated cells on gingival cells following home bleaching gel exposure. However, this study has some important issues that merit clarification for better understanding of the manuscript. …
