Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) now ranks among the most curable cancers worldwide, both in adults and children. This has been made possible by the development of multi-agent chemotherapy and advances in radiotherapy, together with better detection and prognostic stratification enabled by diagnostic imaging, in which PET-FDG has occupied a primary role. For years, the disease has been the focus of scientific and clinical research aimed at deepening our understanding of its pathophysiology, immunology and biology, and in developing in vitro models for testing new therapies. Moreover, given the favourable prognosis of the disease, HL has become a model in which to study the toxicity and long-term effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, with the goal of striking the right balance between disease control and the need to keep the risk of long-term toxicity as low as possible. …
