We read with great interest the recent correspondence by Mann and Hardy published in
Acta Neuropathologica [
15]. The authors critically discuss a novel concept for the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) suggested by Braak and Del Tredici [
7], namely the assumption that AD-associated tau pathology begins in the locus coeruleus (LC) and causes amyloid-β (Aβ) pathology. The LC would therefore represent the primary manifestation site of AD. …
