A 10-month-old male child, second in birth order, born to second-degree consanguineous parents, presented to our institution with fever for 3 days with fast breathing for 1 day. Past history was significant for recurrent lower respiratory tract infections and diarrhoea since 5 months of age. Polyhydramnios was observed in the antenatal scans and he was delivered by normal vaginal delivery at term. His birth weight was 2.9 kg (appropriate for gestational age) and there were no perinatal complications; information on placental weight was unavailable. …
