In 1993, Fagon et al. [
1] reported that when pneumonia was caused by
Pseudomonas aeruginosa or
Acinetobacter spp., the related mortality was estimated as high as 40%, with a relative risk of death of 2.50. This report was important by drawing attention to leading nosocomial pathogens and their association with mortality. However, it ignores the fact that the risk factors [

3] for both bacteria are completely different. Unfortunately, no matched cohort studies on pneumonia caused by
A. baumannii as a single pathogen have been reported to ascertain its mortality. …
