Introduction. Statins therapy and the reduction of plasma cholesterol values seem to affect structural characteristics of atherosclerotic plaque. Although this effect is certainly beneficial consequences of aggressive statins therapy are not yet well studied. Integrated Backscatter (IBS) has been used to analyse plaque and its characterization in order to differentiate calcific injury, fibrotic, thrombotic, lipid and bleeding components by obtaining high or low IBS values. …
