The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, apart from its human toll, has accelerated the digital transformation of multiple aspects of society and social interactions, including the practice of medicine and medical education. As a result, residency and fellowship interviews became virtual, including the social part of the process, the happy hour. What started as a necessity has become standard practice to the extent that professional societies in many medical and surgical fields discourage hybrid models to ‘even the playing field’ for applicants from all financial backgrounds [1]. …
