Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy is the official journal of the European Society of Sports Traumatology Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA). As is well known, the journal was founded by Professor Ejnar Eriksson at the beginning of the 1990s. During its first years, the journal was published four times a year. It has grown steadily, is now published monthly and is established as one of the leading journals in the field of knee surgery, sports traumatology and arthroscopy. Its scope is also wider than before, with more articles on sports medicine; tendon pathology; sports injury prevention; rehabilitation; cartilage, shoulder and ankle injuries. There has also been a gradual change in the scientific content, as more articles on degenerative knees, osteoarthritis, knee replacements and osteotomies have been published over recent years; new techniques, navigation aids and computer-assisted surgery have also been highlighted; and a greater number of basic science-related articles have been published. The editors now encourage you all to submit an even greater number of basic science papers to the journal. Its recently published impact factor for 2007 is the highest ever, 1.626, which ranks the journal as 17/72 of sports science journals and 16/48 of all orthopaedic journals worldwide. The impact factor was 36% higher than last year, which is advantageous, as it is well known that scientists seek to submit their best papers to journals with a higher impact factor. …
