Over the past few months, ASNC has issued a number of communications stressing the importance of maintaining a patient-first approach to cardiovascular imaging, particularly in the current multimodality era.
1,2 At the ASNC2021 Annual Scientific Session and Exhibition, numerous lectures and sessions highlighted
how to deliver patient-first care in contemporary practice. In many ways, this issue is non-controversial. Virtually all cardiovascular imaging professionals agree in principle that the focus of care should be on the patient, not the test; that physicians, not payers, should guide shared clinical decision-making; and that appropriate use and patient preference are important elements of the highly nuanced decisions necessary for optimal test selection and disease management.
