The recent editorial [
1] on perils of academic surgery is extremely important and stimulates medical community to think about ways to increase the quality of biomedical research and medical practice not only among surgeons but also in overall medical community. As a student of medicine, I was taken aback to notice the innumerable number of diseases and conditions that did not have known specific causation and/or specific treatment. A long period has passed since then, and despite the huge number of breakthroughs, I am still constrained to think the same. The authors in this editorial [
1] have correctly pointed out to the need for understanding the current buzzwords: diversity, equity, and inclusion. These words sure help make an impressive presentation, but is there an easy method of their implementation? Are these buzzwords only for research or these may be applicable in day-to-day medical practice? Do these belong only to the academic medical world or can be useful for treatment of patients as well? This communication addresses only their desired role in biomedical academia. …
