A three-year-old-boy presented to the pediatric clinic with a history of troublesome wet cough for 8 wk being most noticeable in morning. This was initially considered to be viral in origin and parents were appropriately reassured by the general practitioner. There was no associated fever, sweating, wheeze or weight loss reported. Clinical examination was normal; however, in view of the history of ongoing moist cough, the diagnosis of protracted bacterial bronchitis (PBB) was considered. Oral co-amoxiclav was prescribed for 3 wk which resulted in complete resolution of symptoms. …
