Highlights

Rwanda is an East African country with an estimated population of 13 million, and in December 2021, 6 neurosurgeons and a number of trainees were recorded.
Rwanda faces a scarcity of neurosurgical services, with limited access to specialized care for patients suffering from disorders of the nervous system.
All medical schools in Rwanda should encourage medical students and other paramedical students to engage in neurosurgical research, especially as their final-year undergraduate projects, either as community-based studies or laboratory studies.
