In reply to the letter by Mr NA Alkhamesi and Mr P Ziprin, I have the following comments: The choice of investigation performed, colonoscopy or barium enema, was down to the preference of an individual clinician and not in any way related to the patients’ symptoms. The delay for both procedures was similar and we have previous published results on the increased sensitivity of colonoscopy and its superiority in detecting early colorectal cancer [1, 2]. …
