Background
Endoleak type II (EL2) is the most common endoleak after Endo-Vascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR). If the aneurysm sac is growing, then treatment is indicated.
Methods
This is a retrospective pilot study, which describes 10 patients who underwent unsuccessful endovascular treatment of EL2 and were indicated for open surgical treatment.
Results
10 patients underwent open operation without abdominal aorta clamp. Lethality was 0. Computed Tomography
Angiogram (CTA) follow-up 12 months later showed no endoleak with good position of the stent-graft.
Conclusions
Results confirm a good outcome of surgical techniques which are safe, but for the evidence base we need more cases.
