This issue of the Journal features the 2016 revised edition of the Guidelines to the Practice of Anesthesia 1 as developed by the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society (CAS) Committee on Standards and approved by the CAS Board. The CAS has promulgated Guidelines since 1974 and the Journal has published the yearly updates as a special article since 2009. In view of the comprehensive and lengthy nature of the Guidelines document, this editorial serves to draw readers’ attention to specific topics updated in this new version. It also provides commentary about other issues undergoing further consideration for publication in future versions of the Guidelines. …
