Because someone else is measuring the results of our surgical procedures, we should be asking whether their measurement is sufficient or whether we should be involved in measuring our own outcomes. This article asks two questions: which outcomes should be measured to validate a procedure’s quality, and how is an objective measurement for comparison, a benchmark, established? …
