Sleeve gastrectomy (SG) is associated with a widely discussed and still controversial issue in the scientific community, represented by the possible development of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
1 It is well known that RYGB can have an anti-reflux effect when performed as a primary procedure, as a consequence of bile diversion and of decreased acid production from the gastric pouch. However, its therapeutic efficacy as a revisional procedure after SG is currently debated and unanswered in the literature.
