Single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILSTM) was developed as a less invasive surgical procedure than conventional laparoscopic surgery The first paper on SILS was written in 1998 and reported laparoscopic appendectomy and cholecystectomy [1, 2]. Both SILS and natural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery (NOTESTM) are expected to become the future generation of endoscopic surgery. However, these new procedures have problems that need to be overcome, an example of which is suturing/ligation in the abdominal cavity. In this study, we report laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal hernioplasty (TAPP) with SILS using the Radius Surgical System (Radius), which allowed the difficult suturing in the abdominal cavity to be accomplished. …
