Level of Evidence V For the facial aesthetic and orthognathic surgeons, optimizing facial harmony and spatial relationships of the nose, midface, and lower jaw is a principal goal. For patients, this is understood to mean that asymmetry, projection, and overall facial profile will be corrected to provide a more functional, youthful, and aesthetically-pleasing result. In more practical terms, improvement of anatomic deformity functionally allows these areas to be less of a social distraction, thereby permitting the casual observer to focus on the eyes and the overall balance and dynamic expression of the face. …
