We thank Arrivé et al. for their stimulating letter in response to our recent work about transient sinusoidal dilatation (SD) of the liver in the context of acute extrahepatic inflammatory and infectious states [
1]. We are glad to see that this rarely discussed topic is open for debate. Authors pointed out that aside from a mosaic enhancement pattern several other liver features may be seen in extrahepatic diseases, namely a heterogeneous enhancement on arterial phases images, periportal hypoattenuating halo, and gallbladder wall thickening. Yet, as authors pointed out, their frequency remains unknown, and subject to variation in published literature. We do believe that they are underestimated, as most patients with such acute extrahepatic infectious/inflammatory states do not require contrast-enhanced computed tomography scanning. …
