Response: don’t give up on wound protectors yet

We appreciate Professor Slim’s comments on our recently published randomized controlled trial on the effect of wound protectors (ring drapes) in laparoscopic colorectal surgery [1]. Professor Slim holds the opinion that the REDWIL trial does not provide any evidence to abandon wound protectors because the projected recruitment figure was not reached; however, there is no conclusive evidence to use them from previous studies, either. …
