Reportedly, less blood loss during operation can reasonably be expected to be associated with fewer postoperative complications in hepatic surgery. At present, we conduct hepatectomy by manual crushing with Pean forceps and ligation under hepatic inflow occlusion (Pringle maneuver). The median blood loss during liver transection ranges from 200 to 300 g. With this method, hepatic resection can be carried out with a 2 to 3 mm margin regardless of tumor location in the liver. Multiple (more than 10) limited resections preserving enough liver volume for metastatic liver tumors do not constitute a special operation. …
