We thank Dr. Schein for his comments regarding our review on Trauma management in ancient Greece [1], and appreciate his concerns about multiple authorship. While working together at the Department of Surgery, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, U.S.A., the authors developed a common interest in surgical history, which was further deepened through the activities of the Ambroise Pare International Military Surgery Forum, a participating society since 1991 in the International Surgical Week organized by the International Society of Surgery/Societe Internationale de Chirurgie (ISS/SIC). This article is an expression of that camaraderie and of the authors’ hope of engaging the interest of the readers of World Journal of Surgery in our surgical heritage. …
