We thank Klaus and colleagues for their comment on our article. It is true that in our study, no pre- and postfunctional tests including esophageal manometry were performed. Esophageal dilation after adjustable gastric banding is a low-incidence complication. Dargent [
1] reported an esophageal dilation incidence of 8 (0.6%) in 1,232 patients, with 2 (0.16%) of the 8 patients requiring band removal. …
