Tan and colleagues (DOI: 10.1007/s00268-005-0350-0) have taken a unique approach to evaluating the uniformity of practice in The Netherlands for the surgical management of children with appendicitis. A survey was distributed to all surgical departments in The Netherlands to evaluate management practices, and they achieved a 93% response rate. The authors developed an evidence-based practice score after reviewing the current literature and the Cochran database to establish seven evidence-based criteria for management of acute appendicitis. …
