An otherwise healthy 54-year-old male with no significant past medical history presented with a 6-month history of food sticking in his throat and night awakenings secondary to coughing, choking, and difficulty managing his secretions. He reported occasional regurgitation of food and/or liquids with his cough. He denied any weight loss or recent history of pulmonary infection. He was on montelukast for a cat allergy and atorvastatin for hypercholesterolemia. He reported consuming approximately one glass of wine per day and denied tobacco use. …
