Over the past 10 years, the prevalence of obesity has markedly increased in European countries (WHO
2004). In parallel, sedentary lifestyles and insufficient physical activity are common in about two-thirds of adult populations (WHO
2002). As obesity is the result of an imbalance between energy intake and energy expenditure, both eating and exercise patterns must be taken into account. The question is: How can we treat the obesity epidemic and begin to reduce the prevalence of obesity and physical inactivity within the populations concerned? …
