Preoperative splenic artery embolization in children: is it really necessary?

We have read an interesting article by Takahashi et al. [6] about the problems of laparoscopic splenectomy in children. The novel method of preoperative splenic artery embolization seems feasible and interesting, especially in preventing hemorrhagic complications. Nevertheless, we found some aspects of this approach that should be further discussed. …
