Urticaria: case report

A retrospective study identified a 24-year-old woman who developed acute urticaria during oral challenge test with prednisolone. The woman had a history of chronic urticaria and angioedema following oral prednisolone and IV hydrocortisone. Three months after the index reaction reaction, she underwent an oral challenge test with prednisolone [dosage not stated]; she developed urticaria at 2 hours. Skin prick tests and intradermal tests with prednisolone, methylprednisolone, triamcinolone, hydrocortisone and dexamethasone were negative. The skin test with prednisolone was considered false negative. She was advised to avoid prednisolone and hydrocortisone [outcome not stated]. …
