Linezolid is a new antibacterial agent with a broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive pathogens including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus spp. (VRE) and penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae.
