Pessary migration into the bladder: a rare episode of removal and repair of a vesicovaginal fistula

Pessaries are considered to be the first-line agents for the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse (POP). Risks are minimal, but rare events such as erosion through organs have been reported. In a literature review including reports from 1950 to 2007, only 8 cases of vesicovaginal fistula have been reported, and fewer are found completely within the bladder walls [
