Pessaries are considered to be the first-line agents for the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse (POP). Risks are minimal, but rare events such as erosion through organs have been reported. In a literature review including reports from 1950 to 2007, only 8 cases of vesicovaginal fistula have been reported, and fewer are found completely within the bladder walls [1]. Presented here is a case of a Gellhorn pessary that has completely eroded into the urinary bladder, with extraction and concomitant vesicovaginal fistula repair. …
