We read with great interest the recent case report by Kakani et al. [
1] describing the safe and successful use of a cutting balloon to treat a benign biliary stricture. This reflects our own experience in the treatment of a benign biliary stricture, albeit in a pediatric setting. In June 2002, an 11-year-old girl presented to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Glasgow with progressive jaundice. She had been treated with chemotherapy and right hepatectomy for hepatoblastoma at the age of 10 months. At this time, a biliary-enteric anastomosis was created and she had remained well in the interim. …
